Cannondale Tease Their New Vision for Adventure-Road Bike Design

This video is a ride between Park City and Ogden. If you look closely you will catch parts of the XTERRA USA National Championship course at Snow Basin, outside Ogden. However, these guys do ride down rather than up the course as XTERRA athletes will in September.

The bike, dubbed the Cannondale Slate, offers 30mm of travel in the “road” oriented Lefty fork coupled to a frame which closely resembles a cross frame and geometry. However, most interestingly Cannondale chose to use the 650b wheel size rather than 700c. We are certain the would argue this allows for a larger range of tire widths. However, if Cannondale plan to push the Slate as a cross bike rather than just an “adventure road”/gravel grinder there might be some issues with the smaller wheel size.

Either way, this is still just a tease. We’re excited to see where this trend is headed.
