Can’t swim? Don’t like to swim? Fear of sharks? Trying to convince your non-swimming friends to come play in the dirt with you this summer? Try an off road duathlon. The number of off road duathlons is increasing across the globe in part to the fact that it is much easier to hold the event without the issue of water and trail proximity. Without having to worry about water, race directors are able to take advantage of the best trails possible, not just the ones close to water.
Off road du’s are also being added as an additional event for the weekend at many cross triathlons. For 2016, XTERRA Winter Park (formerly XTERRA Snow Mountain Ranch) has added a duathlon. They have opted to go with the run/bike/run version of a duathlon as apposed to a single run and bike option. The wickedly fun 3k run, 24k bike, 6.5k run uses the same trials as the off road triathlon and offers the same stunning Colorado views.
